Dear Mr Richards MP,
I'm sure you are aware of the Midfield Mobile Homes Park, and the relocation of the people by City of Calgary. Initially they (the City of Calgary)
promised these people (all home owners on leased land, owned by the City) another location once they close down Midfield Park. This has now been
taken off the table. No reason given, just a 3 year time frame (which the City feel is a generous amount of time for them to find alternative
places to live) in a 1% rental market?, at least 30% of the residents are seniors .
The offer is now, $20,0000 maximum, minus cost incurred:- removal of homes, tidy-up of the areas once vacated, and any other costs the city deems
fit to charge. I should imagine most residents will end up running at a loss, plus now they will be destitute.
I have never in my born days heard of something so callous, (20 years here in Airdrie, Alberta, and 40 years living in Manchester England.) Anyone would think we are a 3rd world and allowed to treat people like garbage! NO, wait a minute garbage has a place to go, the land fill.
We have set up an on-line petition via facebook, also there is a web site that will give you a time frame of all the events as they have unfolded.
The site is www.midfieldpark.ca which categorically states in several letters to the residents, that they would indeed be re-housed. Attached is a letter
from 5th March 2012, stating as such.
Thanking you for your time and attention to this email.
Sincerely Mary Hodgkinson
